A lot of backing and forthing has gone on about Lieberman's Primary opposition and how it was not successful since Lieberman went on to win in spite of the Dems kicking him out. But actually considering that we now have Dem majorities in both the House and Senate and we have a Dem in the White House, wouldn't it be fair to say that the bid encouraged Dems in their bids for election?
Sometimes in Chess, something has to be sacrificed in order to move forward and create a successful strategy. We are beginning to experiment with ads opposing Blue Dogs during this Health Care Insurance Reform debate and I am sure we are making the Dem leadership extremely nervous because we are changing the landscape. We are not acting like sheep. We are pushing an agenda, not just a party.
This can be dangerous as we've seen from the Rethuglians. People who push agendas can be fanatical and narrow minded and ignorant. People who push PARTIES can be corrupt, cruel and focused on winning to the extent that ethics and laws are ignored.
I believe we have the advantage here, in that in everything that is done on the left within the bloggosphere is thoroughly question by .... US! We may not encourage dissent but then we don't bring guns out to discourage it either.
And, when all is said and done it is probable that Lieberman will have to seek work on K Street when his term expires.
