I'm sure many of you know about the ads that the Progressive Change Campaign Committee and Democracy for America have cobbled together to put pressure on key Senators (i.e. Ben Nelson, Charles Grassley, and Olympia Snowe). Now, they are aiming their guns at one of the most crucial people in this whole process: Senator Max Baucus of Montana. The PCCC and the DFA have made themselves famous for making these ads that put a human face on health care reform and they have made a difference. For example, the ad aired in Nebraska pushed Ben Nelson into doing a counter commercial to talk about how he is looking out for his constituent's best interests (although Nebraskans hunger for him to support reform).

The PCCC/DFA (the wonder twins in this fight for universal health care) have most recently been raising money to air commercials targeting Senator Snowe in both her home state and in D.C. Please feel free to contribute HERE! I especially recommend this to Mainers who want to remind Snowe that the majority of her constituents want trigger-free reform (since the trigger will put the future of any reform passed in doubt). See their ad here:
After seeing this ad, I thought to myself: "Why target Olympia Snowe first? Why not target someone more crucial like Senators Baucus, Conrad, or Carper? Well, mere hours ago, they have made a commercial targeting Senator Baucus and have put it on youtube. See it here:
Just like in past ads, they are putting a human face on reform and detailing how many people's lives and finances hang in the balance with the current health care system. It also implies that in the end, corporations don't vote, people do, so who are you going to ultimately cling to?
I highly recommend that you contribute to this new campaign to hammer on the door of Max Baucus and keep him on his toes. The progressives know the power he wields and we are not afraid to stand strong.
Contribute and/or spread the word of the "Hold Baucus Accountable" ad HERE!!! Let's not become complacent in the current situation, there is still so much we can do to affect the outcome.
Also, Howard Dean is sending out a new petition for us all to sign. Its message to Congress is clear, we want a trigger-free, inclusive public option out of you, even if it takes reconciliation to get it. Sign it right here, everyone should sign this.
Now, I wish you all good night, and good luck.
