If there is one thing millions of Americans without health insurance don't need right now, they don't need to be turned into criminals facing fines for not being able to afford or for choosing to not support a corrupt health insurance industry.
Options and choices are what the American people need, not mandates!
It's bad enough that the auto insurance industry slips their sticky fingers into my pocket for mandatory insurance requirements every six months with little regulation on what they can or can't charge folks for doing basically nothing most of the time.
It's bad enough that folks with homeowner's insurance in hurricane Katrina had to argue over details of wind damage or water damage.
The looming spector of mandatory health insurance coverage that will turn the most needy Americans into criminals unless they support big industry is appalling.
Here are some choices that could be implemented:
More fees based on a sliding scale and ability to pay.
Fees for health care disclosed up front.
Public options--several of them.
Incentives for preventive care built into public option choices.
Vision care options.
Dental care options.
Holistic and alternative care options.
Congress is totally out of touch with the American people and their needs.
Demand options, not mandates!
When the public has information and can make their own choices, the system will work best. Demand options, not mandates!
