Bill Clinton was scheduled to be at the President's Cup practice round today in sunny Northern California. The President's Cup is the penpremiere team competition in golf. It's America versus the World (minus Europe). I was there today following around Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker, the #1 and #2 players in the World. Oversight of this game was also provided by assistant to the USA team Michael Jordan. Yet, my hero Bill Clinton was nowhere to be found. Word on the street is that John Garamendi's campaign asked 42 to participate in a fundraiser for health care reform rally at South San Francisco's Basque Cultural center. What a good Democrat this man is!! He gave up a great time and swapped out his Harding Park Meatball sub for blackened chicken.
Some homemade videos and a little more news below the fold..
There was some other great golf news this week in case y'all missed it. The IOC is getting close to selecting golf as a sport to be added for the 2016 Olympics.
The IOC executive board recommended that golf and rugby sevens be added to the Olympic program in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, which was selected as the host city last week. The full vote on adding sports will be Friday.
This is fantastic news! Maybe this IOC vote won't be a complete loss.
Here are a few videos I took today. UPDATE: I took out the embeds because the page was taking too long to load

This happened within 10 minutes of us showing up. What luck to walk right on the course and be standing on the hole where Tiger was about to play. Then we see Michael Jordan walk up, and with Tiger in his group; Steve Stricker, Hunter Mahan and Sean O'Hair. Jordan was a little standoffish all day, avoiding much conversation with the crowd. But he did seem to be having fun with Tiger and the boys. Tiger's first ball went out into the street towards the SFSU campus.
Video
Tiger teeing off on the 4th hole. He hit a nice drive there. A power fade. He was hitting hard fades off the tee all day.
Video
Tiger teeing off on the 14th hole. Just off camera there was USA Captain Freddy Couples and Assistant Captain Paul Azinger. They were having a great time more so than Captain Greg Norman who was fighting off the mediarazi and their questions about his recent marital separation.
Video
Phil Mickelson teeing off on the 4th hole. He hit the best drive I saw there today. He teed it up really high and crushed it. Some smartass yelled 'four' from the street right after he hit it. I'm the 'nice shot' guy.
Here are some pictures I took

USA USA!!
I had a great time today. It's hard to tell how things will go. The course is in pretty nice shape. The rough was punitive, so the guys that drive it in the fairway will be rewarded. I didn't get to watch the international squad too much, but it looked like Adam Scott was struggling. Sean O'Hair had a nice swing going, as did Retief Goosen. It's all going to come down to who is putting and chipping well. I'm hoping the US will take the cup, and that Bill gets some R+R during the rest of the week.
