Palin to Obama, Now is not the time for cold feet: Send More Troops.
McCain tells reporters, "Half-measures is what I worry about. Obama should follow recommendations from those in uniform and dispatch thousands of more troops to the country – similar to what President George W. Bush did during the 2008 troop "surge" in Iraq."
Palin - Shown on my TV this morning as if it was important that President Obama hear the advice of the 3 year Governor of Alaska, was her facebook presence, stating "We Must Win in Afghanistan," Her words shown after the fold.
So we hear from the duo that lost the election, who feel their opinions should weigh with the one that did win the election, the now Commander in Chief! And of course, we all remember from the campaign that McCain knows where Osama Bid Laden is and he knows how to capture him! A shame he does not share this knowledge with the President!
- Sarah Palin
"For two years as a candidate, Senator Obama called for more resources for the war in Afghanistan and warned about the consequences of failure. As President, he announced a comprehensive new counterinsurgency strategy and handpicked the right general to execute it. Now General McChrystal is asking for additional troops to implement the strategy announced by President Obama in March. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, sisters and brothers in harm's way in Afghanistan right now. We owe it to all those brave Americans serving in uniform to give them the tools they need to complete their mission.
We can win in Afghanistan by helping the Afghans build a stable representative state able to defend itself. And we must do what it takes to prevail. The stakes are very high. The 9/11 attacks were planned in Afghanistan, and if we are not successful there, al Qaeda will once again find a safe haven, the Taliban will impose its cruelty on the Afghan people, and Pakistan will be less stable. Our allies and our adversaries are watching to see if we have the staying power to protect our interests in Afghanistan. I recently joined a group of Americans in urging President Obama to devote the resources necessary in Afghanistan and pledged to support him if he made the right decision. Now is not the time for cold feet, second thoughts, or indecision -- it is the time to act as commander-in-chief and approve the troops so clearly needed in Afghanistan."

We enter the 9th year now of the Afghan war, and Obama received the troop increase request last week from McChrystal.
On Monday, Robert Gibbs said that walking away isn't a viable option to deal with a war that is about to enter its ninth year. "I don't think we have the option to leave. That's quite clear. President Barack Obama is not considering a strategy for Afghanistan that would withdraw U.S. troops from the eroding war there."
Madeleine Albright says that: "Neither the US nor NATO can be responsible for Afghanistan for the rest of our lives. The bottom line is that the Afghans have to be able to operate on their own. But we have to help them get there - training the Afghan Army and police forces, as well as providing reconstruction assistance and a viable governing structure. We need to have this debate now so the American public understands what is at stake. Eight years have been wasted and there is no more time to waste. We've got to chart a course and stick to it."
Charlie Wilson, from Charlie Wilson's War:
I'd Probably Shut Down The War In Afghanistan
As President Obama considers whether to send tens of thousands of more troops to Afghanistan, Mr. Wilson worries that the war could become "another Vietnam."
"It's probably best to make a calculated withdrawl," he said. "If I were the president, I'm not sure what I'd do. I'd probably shut it down, rather than lose a lot of soldiers and treasure." He says this as someone who knows as well as anyone just I'd rather take on a chain saw," Mr. Wilson said. "They're the world's best foot soldiers, best warriors. And they're fearless.
"They're fearless, and they've got nothing to lose. And they have a pretty serious hatred for those who try to occupy their country."The former Democratic congressman from Texas, whose efforts to arm the Afghan mujahideen during the 1980s Soviet occupation became the basis for the book and movie, "Charlie Wilson's War."

Allison Kilkenny-The "leaving Afghanistan" opinion is based on the opinion that the United States has no right to nation build in autonomous countries, and is making life hell for Afghans. "Leaving Afghanistan" is based on the reality that democracy cannot be exported to other countries. Democracy is a grassroots, populist movement that grows organically from indigenous peoples, and cannot be cultivated in some Pentagon backroom. "Leaving Afghanistan" is about fixing home before criticizing the neighbors. America could use war budgets for good, decent things like improving schools, creating jobs, providing health care, fixing infrastructure, and reversing the damage inflicted on our environment. "Quagmire" is now too sterile of a term to slap across the flaming remains of Afghanistan. The United States has made it painfully clear that its idea of "nation building" is to obliterate a country's infrastructure and then prop up an embarrassingly corrupt leader
