The Daily Kos community has kindly funded a quilt for moe99 who is in a fight with lung cancer. Thanks to all of you who donated!
It’s funded up to forty-four messages (I’m figuring $4 per message with a forty-four message minimum for materials and a bit of my time, about the cost of sending a get well card per message). But we need twenty-three more messages of support for moe to make the quilt.
You may think, "I don’t know moe." But he may know you and your writing – and your supportive message will mean a lot to him. Have you survived cancer or love someone who is going through what he is going through? Please write to moe. Many of us are protesting the nighmare-ish state of health care in our country -- but moe is living it. Let's help him with our words.
Prior healing quilts:
A quilt for othniel who has been hospitalized three times recently for a deep abscess and complications. This quilt means the world to othniel and it will not leave his side. It is in the hospital with him now.
This is what a quilt with forty-four messages looks like (othniel's):
For exmearden, fighting cancer in her heart. She received her quilt this Monday and took it to the hospital with her as she undergoes her second round of chemo. She cried when she got the quilt -- because the love in all those messages (one hundred eighty!) was that overwhelming. That quilt is staying with her.
For MsSpentyouth who has a brain tumor and has insurance issues. Her quilt will likely be mailed this coming Monday. It has forty-eight messages.
Think of this like a great big, soft, group greeting card that can be cuddled, hung on a wall, cried into, smiled at, and treasured. Your words will mean a lot to moe, I am sure of that. Never underestimate the incredible power of kind words.
Please leave your message in a comment below – and thank you.
