This is another in a series of distraction diaries meant to provide a brief respite from the struggles of the day. Tonight we are going in a little different direction: Infrared Photography
Palms
I had an old Nikon D100 digital camera converted to shoot infrared. The conversion consists of removing an infrared blocking filter from the front of the standard sensor and installing a filter that blocks visible light.
Temple
As you can see vegetation reflects a lot of infrared light and registers as very light to white.
Bamboo
Creek
Path
You get a nice otherworldly look.
Condo
Black Swan (the swan was really black)
Gazebo
Infrared photography using film was a very difficult process requiring refrigeration of film, delicate handling, and long exposure times on a tripod. I was able to capture these images hand held.
