The war for the heart of the Republican Party has been waging for years, decades even, but particularly now as they implode in a racist orgy that pits southern fundamentalists against shocked Republicans in other parts of the country. Southern rightwing nutcases love to foment racism, secession, and division in America so much that they've decided to secede from their Republican Party. Apparently, the Republicans aren't pure enough of racists and bigots to suit these die-hards.
There has always been an uncomfortable arranged marriage in the Republican Party between the totalitarianist, fundamentalist religious nutcase wing and the business wing who pay off the wingnuts, usually much to the wingnuts' detriment economically, just see the Great Recession as unadulturated evidence of that. Yet the marriage persists! But just barely.
This year we've heard about the founder of Little Green Footballs declaring war on the wingnuts. Now it appears to have been kicked up a notch to the House of Representatives level:
Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX) is headed to NY-23, to campaign for Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman -- and to send a message to the national GOP by stopping moderate Republican Dede Scozzafava.
Yes that is former Republican majority leader, not just some rank and file soldier, but LEADER in the Republican movement, seceding from the Republican Party in the northeast. My bold.
The southern Republicans are telling Republicans everywhere else to go join the Conservative Party, that is if you listen the former leadership of the Republican party.
Armey's presence could provide an interesting counterweight to Newt Gingrich, who led the House Republicans with Armey in the mid-1990's, and who recently endorsed Scozzafava.

Ha ha! Gingrich vs. Armey?!
Yeah we like to spin this internal situation to make it bigger at times but this speaks for itself.
I am hearing some of Olbermann's guests suggest that the Republicans could quite literally split.
The funniest part of this is that Newt, wingnut extraordinaire, is trying to position himself in the center as if the most unpopular Speaker of the House would EVER become president.
HA HA HA!
