What started as a great idea last week took a huge step closer to becoming a major part of health reform today. At 11:04 AM, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid tweeted that the Senate plans on repealing the anti-trust exemptions for the health insurance industry as part of its final bill. This comes the same day that a House committee has voted to take the same measures in its own bill. Read the link for the whole story.

This is a great development indeed. But I think it's essential that this does not distract from the need for a robust public option to be included in the final Senate bill as well. Sorry for the short diary, but I wanted to get this news up on DKos before my lunch break ends and I have yet to see any other diaries breaking this matter. All in all, great week so far for health reform after yesterday's strong polling numbers for the PO and now the beginning of the end for anti-trust exemptions!
