I just love this President.
He was my senator.
I gave him my money.
I went campaigning for him door to door in Indiana.
I got Annie Leibovitz's picture downloaded and it's already on my Facebook page.
But now I'm hearing that the President is prepared to weaken the Public Option, from an opt-out to a trigger, just so he can keep Olympia Snowe on board? Are you kidding me?
I'll just say this once, since I'm sure it will be repeated over and over again here and on other progressive sites:
- A token Republican on board with a bad health care bill is about as useful as an extra deck-chair on the Titanic.
- I did not bust my ass to elect Olympia Snowe as Co-President/Veto-Keeper of the United States.
- The President's wonderful speech to Congress in early September, wherein he promised to work to pass the best bill possible, is rendered meaningless if he prefers appearance over substance.
- Peeling off 1 Republican don't make this a bipartisan process.
- Olympia Snowe isn't about to leave the Republican Party.
- We need to use the tools we have to get the job done, with or without window dressing.
