Dear Friends,
Many of you have written and expressed concern that, with my departure, you'd lose a voice on behalf of the important issues in Congress that we all care so much about.
The good news is that you need not fear, because today I announced my enthusiastic support for Ted Deutch to succeed me in Congress. Ted is a young State Senator who is a leader of the next generation of progressive American lawmakers. He is a strong and bold progressive who has spent the last three years taking on Republicans in Florida. As a Congressman, I believe he'll be an excellent champion of progressive ideals and true accountability.
I've invited him to introduce himself to you, and let him articulate his own positions on some of the issues I know mean so much to you.
Let’s do everything we can to make sure a true progressive remains in my seat. Ted Deutch’s special election to succeed me is just a few months away. His self-funding opponent is already airing television advertisements. Ted needs help from you to win this seat. Please donate to Ted Deutch today.
Thank you again for your support.
- Congressman Robert Wexler
From Senator Ted Deutch:
Dear Friends,
Congressman Robert Wexler has served my local community - and America - for over twenty years. I may take his seat, but I will never replace him. I want to thank him for his support and endorsement.
I am running for Congress because, now more than ever, we need strong progressive voices like Robert Wexler in Congress. We need more people willing to take the fight to those who continue to defend the status quo. We need strong Democrats in Congress, not establishment members afraid to listen to the people.

Winning the White House and Congress was critical - but it was only one step on the road to a moral and philosophical recovery.
You should know that in my view, a full recovery means we don't settle for health care "reforms" that fail to live up to the promises of our great victories in 2008. We must reign in insurance company abuses and provide coverage for the uninsured – and Congress should not give up on the public option.
You should know I believe recovery should include a Congress that is willing to investigate all abuses of power. Almost two years ago, I was one of those that joined up at wexlerwantshearings.com. We must continue the fight for real accountability.
Robert provided quite a model of what you should expect out of a Member of Congress. I hope to earn your trust over many years. I believe my votes in Congress will speak for themselves.
In the meantime, I need the support of those like yourself who understand why these issues matter.
If you'd like to support my candidacy - and keep someone fighting for the people’s interests in this seat - please donate here.
Thank you for your support - and thank you for this great opportunity to serve. I look forward to being in touch over the balance of this campaign and throughout my service.
Best,
Ted Deutch
