Look people, if its one thing I know, its whores - and you don’t have to be carrying diapers, or wearing lipstick and a dress and you can even have one of those "hangy downy" things to still be called one – all that counts is just really bad behavior, especially when it comes to money.
For example, I think we would all like a dollar for every time someone referred to John McCain, Chuck Schumer, or Joe Lieberman as an "attention whore" or "media whore." And I will take a nickel and still get filthy rich for every time someone has called any member of Congress a "corporate whore." And where are all those "Wall Street whores" with our money??!!!
But if Fox News and the RNC insist on continuing to be offended by Congressman's Grayson's remark about Ms. Robertson, here’s a few actual real live quotes below the fold demonstrating that being called a whore is definately an equal opportunity diss. (Sheesh, even Ben and Jerry’s get flamed! Is nothing sacred?!)
(Please feel free to add your own quotes in the comments.)
Let’s start with an obvious target. On Salon.com, Glen Greenwald recently has this to say about Lanny Davis:
It's genuinely difficult to recall any instance where he publicly defended someone who hadn't, at some point, hired and shuffled money to him. Yesterday, he published a new piece simultaneously in The Hill and Politico -- solemnly warning that extremists on the Far Left and Far Right are jointly destroying democracy with their conduct in the health care debate and urging "the vast center-left and center-right of this country to speak up and call them out equally" -- that vividly illustrates the limitless whoring behavior which shapes Washington generally and specifically drives virtually every word out of Lanny Davis' mouth.
Well, this one kind of hurt. From Matt Taibbi in Rolling Stone:
In Washington there are whores and there are whores, and then there is Tom Daschle.
At Open Left, Dave Sirota had this to say about the thorn-in-all-our-sides Blue Dogs:
... as Nate Silver has pointed out, it's idiotic to assume that just because Blue Dogs represent districts that host competitive elections, it means voters in those districts want corporate whores representing them in Washington.
... well, per P.J. O’Rourke:
Every government is a parliament of whores. The trouble is, in a democracy, the whores are us.
On a lighter note, let's not forget Pastor John Hagee getting John McCain in all sorts of hot water last year for calling the Roman Catholic Church a whore. He had some s’plaining to do...
I've learned that some have accused me of referring to the Catholic Church as the 'great whore,' of Revelation. This is a serious misinterpretation of my words. When I refer to the 'great whore,' I am referring to the apostate church, namely those Christians who embrace the false cult system of Jew-hatred and antisemitism.
(Still sounds like a diss to me!)
And last but not least, there is Sigrid S at yelp.com who can diss with the best of them:
Ben & Jerry used to be happy ice-cream hippies; now they're fat corporate whores. But their Caramel Macchiato milkshake got them five stars from me.
Like I said, feel free to add other quotes you have.
UPDATE: Well this was inevitable; I have been kindly informed that Keith Olbermann just said Lieberman was "whoring himself."
