I doubt it.
Parts of Wingnutland are up in arms about the "attempted assassination of Lou Dobbs" -- probably by a gang of dark-skinned people in a '65 Chevy low-rider.
This may have been diaried already -- if so, sorry for the interruption.
Read on.
The Old Redneck doesn't know who ALIPAC is and cares less, but, early this morning, Wingnutopia lighted up with this "send-it-to-everyone-you-know" message:
Friends of ALIPAC,
We have just learned that someone has fired a gun at the home of Lou
Dobbs, with his wife just a few feet away from the incident. The
gunfire followed a series of threatening phone calls.
Lou Dobbs is being targeted by the pro-illegal alien groups and
pundits who feel that Dobbs is stopping Amnesty from passing.
The Southern Poverty Law Center, the Anti Defamation League, the
National Council of La Raza, Media Matters, and Geraldo Rivera of Fox
News are using false information to foment hatred towards Lou Dobbs or
any American who speaks out against Amnesty or illegal immigration.
They have pushed for Lou Dobbs to be fired and since CNN has refused
to do that some people are now turning to violence to try and achieve
their goals.
The lies and hate coming from these radical pro-illegal alien groups
is now manifesting in the form of gunfire fired into the occupied home
of an innocent multi-racial family.
Lou Dobbs is a great American who is standing up for the people of the
United States and sharing information with the public that the elites
want censored.
Here is the Audio of Lou Dobbs telling the tale of this gunfire into
his home.

Well, goodness gracious -- an assassination attempt on Lou Dobbs.
So -- the Old Redneck sprang into action -- and found:
Nothing here about the claim:
http://loudobbs.tv.cnn.com/
Nothing hereeither:

BUT WAIT -- Fox is all over the story:
http://www.foxnews.com/...
Here's the meat of the Fox story:
New Jersey State Police Sgt. Steve Jones said troopers were called to the Dobbs' estate in rural Wantage, N.J., at about 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 5. The investigators who responded to the call were told that Dobbs and his wife were outside their home when they heard a gunshot, and a bullet struck their attic.
"It struck the siding and then fell to the ground," Jones said.
O-o-o-o-o-kay -- let's think about this for a minute.
First, note the date the cops were called to the Dobbs mansion -- 5 OCTOBER -- that's over three weeks ago -- and we're just now hearing about this assassination attempt?
Then, there's this from the cops:
"It struck the siding and then fell to the ground," Jones said.
Sounds like a spent round.
The Old Redneck lives in a rural area on the Virginia Northern Neck. Deer season is about to start here -- bow season started a couple of weeks ago, muzzleloader starts tomorrow, gun season starts a couple of weeks later -- and the woods around here will sound like a small war is going on until mid-January.
Maybe that's what happened to ol' Lou. Or not.
". . . rural Wantage, NJ . . . " is in Zone 2 on this NJ hunting area map:
http://www.state.nj.us/...
Firearm deer season in NJ Zone 2 does not open until 21 November,
although bow season opened on 3 October, two days before the alleged
"shot" was fired near their home. Of course, as we all know, there's
no way anyone in NJ was firearm hunting during bow season -- oh, no,
never happen.

The Old Redneck may be too cynical, but, here's my take on this "assassination attempt:"
-- Dobbs likely hears shots fired around his home from time to time,
living as he does in a rural area where hunting is permitted.
-- Dobbs has been taking a lot of heat for his vicious attacks on
anyone not a "real American."
-- He needs some sympathy.
-- What better way to stir up sympathy than to claim he was shot at by
a gang of dark-skinned people in a '65 Chevy low-rider. (Okay, I admit -- I just threw in that part about "by a gang of dark-skinned people in a '65 Chevy low-rider. " to be a smart-ass.)
