Well Democrats?
Remember when the Potatohead wrote about deals? Remember when the Potatohead wrote about value, costs, markets?
In particular, remember when the Potatohead wrote this:
Rule number one in a deal: If you can't walk, you will pay the highest cost you can bear.
(third person is theatre, ok?)
Translated to this issue, that equals the highest cost to us to cover more of us, and the most shitty legislation possible while still claiming health care reform.
This abortion poison pill is just another in a long line of "can't walk" no balls, Dem giveaways that has me trying really hard to keep finding reasons to support this shit bill.
Maybe it's worth reminding people why we have to do health care reform in the first place.
Why is this? Why are so many people dying, going bankrupt, and god knows what else?
It is because the private insurers in tandem with big corporations are screwing this nation and want to continue to do so.
The people dying is their problem, not our problem. We don't own that, they do. We gave them the status of "persons" and they don't act like persons. They want all the rights, but none of the responsibilities.
We do own that. That is our mistake. No question, but nobody really wants to address that right now, and it's understandable as to why too.
That means they OWE us. They owe us for years of raw exploitation, they share the burden of the people dying with us, and refuse to come to acceptance on that.
To them, this is about dollars; namely, how many of our dollars can they get, while doing the least for them.
To us, of course, it's about people, lives, families.
So, when to walk?
I'm strongly inclined to do it right fucking now, but with a twist. I say we drag out their dirty laundry Grayson style, and keep airing it until they yield, or are replaced, and that's how you deal.
That will get us a better deal, because they will know we have absolutely had enough. If we can't walk, then we have not had enough, and that's the reality of things.
I do big deals all the time. I know how this works, and we as a party, movement, people, are flat out fucking this up, no balls, solid.
Damn.
Oh hell. Consider this.
They will screw us. They will pollute any fix we try to legislate in, then turn right around and bitch about how government doesn't work, because they made damn sure it won't work, so they can run to the ignorant for permission to do it again and again!
Doesn't that need to end at some point?
UPDATE: If we are going to give away things like womens rights, we need to say it's actually worth it, like public option for everybody, or medicare for everybody worth it. That's the point of the diary.
UPDATE1: I've lost most of the people I had calling in support of health care. I get the e-mails saying, "you are nuts". Solid Republicans liked Medicare for all. Nobody like mandate with maybe the idea of a public plan, that's got special deals in it to be available to some of us some day.
FUCK IT UPDATE:
Want to know why I write here? It's to communicate what I'm feeling, what I'm seeing and to get news, information, energy and strategy from all of you that I can take back to my friends and others politically active and turn that into action.
I love Kos, I love doing that, and I think it's important.
Those people have told me this bill sucks ass. They don't want to make the calls, they are worried they are going to get screwed, and they don't understand how I can be excited over this shit bill.
So, I come here, and what do I get?
Insulted, told I'm not with the program, don't understand, aren't willing to save the people, purity troll (I know that comment was snark, but it's happened before), and lots of other things.
Where's that good strategy guys. Where is that info that says it will be ok, etc...
I'm not seeing it, and that's a big ass problem. Again, another point of the diary.
Just to be clear, I absolutely want solid reform. I'm not seeing solid reform, my friends and supporters are not seeing solid reform, and nobody is showing me a path to solid reform, because the solid paths were given away long ago.
WTF?!?
