Brothers and Sisters,
Six years ago Pastor Douglass Fitch gave an extraordinary sermon one Sunday morning at Glide Memorial church here in San Francisco called "Homosexuality and the Bible." Pastor Fitch has been a champion of marriage equality for a long time and I was priveleged to be there that morning as he walked through all the arguments some people try to use from the Bible in saying it is against gay rights. He explained with great eloquence how these arguments are simply wrong--they twist what the Bible was really saying.
I've been trying to get a copy of that sermon for some time and I'm happy to say that a woman from Glide finally dug up an old VHS of that sermon in the church basement. I've recently received that copy. And I also received Pastor Fitch's approval to use it here (more like enthusiastic encouragement).
So, I'm going to go into a short quiet period here as I work on transcribing his sermon. This is the best use of my time instead of me posting here, since Pastor Fitch's words are one hundred times more powerful than mine.
I'll return as soon I'm done with Pastor Fitch's sermon.
