I have read so many diaries discussing what's wrong with the HCR bills in Congress. What I have NOT seen is a call to arms.
This country protested the Vietman war by going to the streets, not sitting on our duffs blogging about it. We won whatever we won in the Women's movement by going to the streets, demanding our rights. LGBT people have become visible and will win their rights because they go to the streets.
OK, folks, let's talk about some buses to DC. I know there's some money out there for this because I hear about people contributing to specific campaigns (e.g., Grayson, anybody against Bachmann).
So let's put our money where our mouth is, shall we. Let's organize a bus tour to DC to DEMAND an excellent HCR bill with a vibrant public option. Are we mice? Are we all talk and no action?
LET'S ORGANIZE A BUS TRIP TO DC!
I am on soc sec disability as my sole income. I am willing to contribute $10.00 from my food budget for this. I will even bring a sleeping bag for the lawn if I need to. I will also bring my pink cane for the walk.
I cannot get to DC from Chicago on my own, and one person by themselves isn't very impressive. We need to go in force. I'm sure most retired people on this blog would go. Problem is, most os uf can't afford to get there.
And you young people out there - where is your moxie? Let's roll people. Someone on this blog can set up an account for the trip. Those with money can contribute directly to that account. Someone can find a bus or 6 or 20 buses, whatever we need.
People can go in their cars and have riders for the trip. We can share housing or sleep on the lawn. Choose a couple of days or 3 for the trip.
Come on people. Are we mice? Let's go to the streets! People on the flight that crashed in PA knew they were going to die BUT they acted anyway. Let's sacrifice a little here with time and money.
What do we want? A robust public option. When do we want it? NOW!
UPDATE: Another diary, So... When are we mobilizing for the Public Option? is dealing with the same topic. I don't know how to actually combine them, but let's comment there instead of here - OK.
This IS moving forward. People from FL, CA, and ? have responded positively, so I am trying to get initial information and will post some more info in a diary tomorrow. We will do this!
Come on, Progressives - Let's Roll!
