It's funny, I told my mom back when Timmy was first hired that I didn't trust him. Because his face just looked sinister to me.
Seriously, I knew like many others he couldn't have been right for the job. If he used to kick it with the fools on Wall Street, how do you expect him to regulate and control his friends.
Like how a group of friends grow up, one becomes a cop and naturally ends up arresting his other friends . . . or lets them go.
More after the fold . . .
I think maybe Democrats are starting to get this.
From The Ed Show:
"I think there is a growing consensus in the [Democratic] caucus [that] we need a new economic team that cares more about jobs, Main Street and the American people than it does about Wall Street and huge bonuses," DeFazio (D-OR) told host Ed Schultz.
It is sad that it took nearly a year for them to figure this out, especially after the whole AIG disaster.
I do wonder if it is possible for him to be replaced, how many jobs could have been created if instead he actually sent money to Main Street. We'll never know, unless we could take a peek into a parallel universe and see maybe Sheila Blair as Treasury Secretary.
"We may have to sacrifice just two more jobs to get millions back for Americans," DeFazio said.
DeFazio criticized Geithner for not being forthcoming about where TARP bailout money went, saying that the treasury secretary was "absolutely not" coming clean about how the government used $700 billion of taxpayers' money to rescue ailing Wall Street firms.
A news analysis at CBS published yesterday says that the US Treasury "gave away the farm" when it bailed out insurance giant AIG, pointing out that, in normal bankruptcy cases, creditors would receive only a fraction of the money they lent the bankrupt company. But because AIG did not declare bankruptcy and was bailed out by TARP instead, taxpayers ended up being on the hook for 100 percent of the insurer's debts.
Right, so the people who hold themselves up over taxpayers, went to taxpayers in a time of need, and basically stole everything, even the crumbs on the floor too small for a mouse. Ironic?
We already knew this, Geithner needs to go, how many diaries here about that topic alone. But now it seems Progressive Democrats are starting to put pressure on the White House about this. They realize Timothy's unwillingness to reign in on his Wall St. buddies, could cost them everything next year.
If there are still no jobs their will be no votes. It sucks to hear adults tell you, that when you graduate you have to go to college to get a decent job. Well I'm in college now, do you mind bringing those jobs back? Ya know the ones my generation kinda needs, those ones overseas . . . It'd be nice.
It's kinda hard to live without a job.

UPDATE: From Badabing
Rep. Peter DeFazio called for the firing of President Barack Obama's top two economic aides on Wednesday for pursuing a recovery plan skewed too heavily towards Wall Street's favor.
The Oregon Democrat told MSNBC's Ed Schultz that he was dismayed with the administration's lack of focus on job creation and insisted it was time to dismiss both White House economic adviser Larry Summers and Treasury Secretary "Timmy Geithner."

Update II: From Asia News Network . . . Wow
"We think it is time, maybe, that we turn our focus to Main Street — we reclaim some of the unspent funds, we reclaim some of the funds that are being paid back, which will not be paid back in full, and we use it to put people back to work. Rebuilding America’s infrastructure is a tried and true way to put people back to work," said DeFazio.
I'm sure my state could use some rebuilding. What with a total 34,000 miles of shoreline, Alaska is perfect for Wave Power type projects. Where you have waves rising and falling in a chamber, that pushes air into a turbine, which cranks the generator and gives many of our rural areas power. Instead of having to rely on generators in -10 degree weather, whole villages can receive energy.
And Alaska is also a perfect candidate for having wind farms. 663,268 sq. miles of land, most of it open tundra and valleys. So much space for something not harmful, (except to birds) and gives power to us and even maybe to the nearest states. How many jobs there?
"Unfortunately, the President has an adviser from Wall Street, Larry Summers, and a Treasury Secretary from Wall Street, Timmy Geithner, who don’t like that idea," he added. "They want to keep the TARP money either to continue to bail out Wall Street...or to pay down the deficit. That’s absurd."
Really, so they still want to give money to Wall St? So surprised right? I'm not, nothing surprises me anymore.
Asked specifically whether Geithner should stay in his job, DeFazio replied: "No.
"Especially if you look back at the AIG scandal," he added, "and Goldman and others who got their bets paid off in full...with taxpayer money through AIG. We channeled the money through them. Geithner would not answer my question when I said, ‘Were those naked credit default swaps by Goldman or were they a counter-party?’ He would not answer that question."
Especially if you look back at the AIG scandal . . . Could it be any more obvious?
Those jobs would be nice though . . .
