Okay this is a bit loose and dirty, but a lot of big fat maybe's have turned into full blown gold lately, so I think this might be worth following up on:
The #3 exec listed on GOPUSA's board of directors list (oddly, no longer up on their site but cached in google and on my hard drive) is one Steve Findley - President, CEO and Chairman of Titan Dynamics Systems, Inc. Titan is essentially a subsidiary of Carlyle Group. More below the fold...
By way of Allied Defense Group (which owns Titan Dynamics Systems) there is a direct tie to the Carlyle Group. One of the Board of Directors at Carlyle (J.H. Binford Peay III) owns Allied Defense Group, who in turn owns Titan Dynamics. By extension they have direct, unimpeded access to (and very likely have full knowledge of) GOPUSA and their partners.
Could it be that this less-than-six degrees of seperation connection means anything? If the Bush boys needed a "go to guy" in the press corps they'd need to find him through a contact that wouldn't squeal if the situation went sour, and more importantly someone who would be keen to such covert evildoing. Bush or related asks around for a contact, this guy from Carlyle says hey, the CEO of this company we own is a sitting member on GOPUSA's board. Surely they know someone...
Is my tinfoil hat on too tight or what?
