On monday, Meteor Blades said he did not know who the youngest Kossack is when he was giving tribute to Charlotte Lucas on her 96th birthday.
The question is, who is the youngest Kossack? I know I have Populista beat by a few months, and I'm pretty sure rossl is a little older than me. I'm 16 and was born on November, 5th, 1993.
If, in the self selected group of people who access this diary, there is someone younger than me you will host the next Young Kossacks!
This is a community diary like the omnipresent pootie and woozle diaries. If you prefer something more substantive and mind provoking, I invite you to look on the front page. But if you're interested in thought provoking discussions with another person wearing orange stained pajamas I invite you to take a ride on the Young Kossack train.
And in the infallible words of a favorite front pager from the wrong Portland, Young Kossacks part 2 starts in There's Moreville... [Swoosh!!] RIGHTNOW! [Gong!!]
A week or so ago, rossl came up with the idea to have a young Kossacks series. He offered to let me write some of the diaries too.
I consider young to be a state of mind. I definitely think I am sometimes "older" than some people who are of majority age. Everyone is welcome in this diary from the 16 year old's to Charlotte Lucas who recently turned 96.
Speaking of "young" progressives, I just got back from Dow Constantine's inauguration as King County Executive. He recently celebrated his 10th annual 39th birthday party! (link is to the facebook page, apologies if you do not have one)
First a little bit about me, I'm a sophomore in high school in suburban Seattle. I blog with the Northwest Progressive Institute and my school district's blog. I go to every school board meeting I can get to and I focus a lot of attention on local politics. I urge all you 'utes to pay attention to local politics. It really is accessible and people are always excited to see young people at events.
I'm the social media coordinator for my legislative district of Democrats. I run our twitter page and facebook group. Again, getting involved with the local party is an excellent way to create grassroots change.
I'm just now starting a research project for school. The criteria is that it has to be about Western Hemisphere history between 1600 and 1995. In addition it has to be a very specific topic. It's supposed to mimic a college paper, although it is only 2000 words long.
Does anyone have suggestions for a question? I'm very interested in LGBTIQ issues. When you are not equal to me, I am not equal to you. When we celebrate "liberty and justice for all" when you don't have the liberty to marry who you want. In fact, you don't have the liberty to not be discriminated against. All this because you love the "wrong" person? That is not right.
Speaking of that, I went to my first gay rally recently. It was awesome. Lt. Dan Choi was there speaking. He is an amazing orator.
So what's happening in your life now? Getting ready for turkey day? Looking forward to a 5 day weekend? Black Friday? I shudder at the thought of shopping on Black Friday, but a lot of my friends are into it.
I should explain the title. "第两个" means number two in Chinese. This is the second Young Kossacks. Is there any intrest in extending it further? Maybe a weekly or biweekly series?
Now the floor is open to you. Do you have anything to say to me? To 'utes as a whole? Got an idea for my history question? That would be much appreciated!
