CHRONIC TONIC posts on Thursdays at 9 EST, it is a place to share stories, advice, and information and to connect with others with chronic health conditions and those who care for them. Our diarists will report on research, alternative treatments, clinical trials, and health insurance issues through personal stories. You are invited to share in comments (and note if you'd like to be a future diarist). In addition to our weekly diaries, please join us for ongoing conversations at the Kossacks Networking site.
Please remember to visit the Thursday Night Healthcare Sries, which posts on Thursdays at the same time.
Today's diary is a short list of what we're thankful for...

Today, I headed off to my uncle's house to celebrate Thanksgiving for the first time since my grandmother's passing. There was moderate drama, but all things considered I had a good time. I am thankful for my wonderful SO and for my two wild and healthy children, for my dad and everything he has given me to make my life possible over the last couple of years, and for the tenuous hold I have on my health at the moment--tenuous is better than nothing. AD I am thankful for all my good friends at CT, without whom I am quite sure I would have lost my sense of humor and stopped havin fun some time ago. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

I'm thankful for my health, I've learned a great deal about myself in the last few years and it's brought me to my new found passions and path in life. Things may happen for a reason or they may not but we can certainly find our own reason in the unfathomable. I'm trying to make my own sense. And I'm thankful for all those people who have put up with my whining, my pain and my frustration, who have stuck with me, most of all my husband Gary. Oh so THANKFUL.
"Gratitude bestows reverence, allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies, those transcendent moments of awe that change forever how we experience life and the world." –John Milton
Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone!

Almost all of the regulars know that me and mine live with my mom and dad. Now, you generally think of Thanksgiving as a time when families get together, but for us, it's when mom and dad take off for the week and for this I am thankful. There's something so nice about having the house to ourselves, I cook, the kids go wild, Cleetus hoots and hollers and can play his guitar all he likes and nobody is here to care or complain...Heaven!

Mom and I had a very peaceful (thank the gods) day today - I'm wiped after being on my feet for a good stretch. Brined a turkey with citrus from her 3 trees and roasted it - first time I've had a bounty from our own harvest, as it were - we didn't plant the trees, but it's her new house, so... We had baked squash and sweet potatoes with chipotle chilis (tribute to being in the Southwest) and beans sauteed with portabella shrooms. Bird was stuffed with quinoa - recipe worked out great... made it to be gluten free for our guest, but I think it's more protein, less carbs and may be something I try again. Am safe and wanted, have a roof over my head - perhaps Mom and I can heal old wounds. Anything other than that I'm just too tired to register at this point.
