The UnIslamic NonRepublic of Iran, to borrow the thinking of Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, is about to flip off the entire world. In the wake of the International Atomic Energy Agency's complaints and a powerful statement of censure from the world leaders which included China and Russia, the fundamentalist-thugs of Iran have decided to raise the rhetoric.
According to the Tehran Times, and as reported by Harry Siegal of Politico, the UnIslamic NonRepublic of Iran will no longer cooperate with the IAEA.
Iran will no longer voluntarily cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency after its vote last week to rebuke the nation, the Tehran Times is reporting.
As Laura noted, the IAEA vote was a big win for Obama in that China and Russia, the two powers that have been most resistant to taking a harder line, both signed on to the resolution.
I am sure China and Russia will appreciate that. This is akin to flipping off a cop that's calling it as it is; the once-secretive Qom site, an incredible irony considering its purpose for nuclear production right next to the center of the clerical establishment, was a obvious mistake by the UnIslamic NonRepublic of Iran. What are they going to do? What they always do? Seems so!
Conservative legislator Mohammad Karamirad, a member of the Iranian parliament's national security committee, was quoted by AP telling the official IRNA new agency that "parliament, in its first reaction to this illegal and politically-motivated resolution, can consider the issue of withdrawing" entirely from the NPT. He added that the government also "can block the entry of IAEA inspectors to the country."
After all, how important are treaties? What is a sworn word to a regime that lies, robs, and beats its own people?
If Iran tries to withdraw from the NPT, you can count on this situation exploding in more ways than one. Will cooler heads prevail, or are they still frazzled by the domestic discontent? Time will tell, but for now they have certainly flipped off the world and isolated themselves even more than before. The situation is pretty bad.
