Not entirely an unpolitical post, because the Greenday track "Jesus of Suburbia" has a shot at being the number one song of the year on WEQX 102.7 FM Manchester, VT. A song could hardly get more political than that, and a heavy volume of voting by Kossacks could easily put it over the top. It has been the most requested song at the station for the last few days in spite of its nine minute length.
More below the fold.
Obviously people can vote for whatever songs they want (everyone votes for their top five) but I do request that people vote for JOS and the Simple Minds song "Home." This is my favorite all-time band and although they have been making new music continously since the peak of their popularity in the mid 80s no station in the U.S. that I know of has played anything new by them in the last ten years before WEQX did this year. It will be tough to get them on the list at all so please help out here. You can vote more than once--I've done so by using different names of people from my family.
The link below leads to a page that lists all the eligible songs. The link to actually vote is at the bottom of the page. You will have to fill out a contact info form when voting for your top 5 but the station does not send e-mails, regular mails, or make phone calls. Well, they would if you won one of the prizes they are giving away, but otherwise have no fear.
The deadline to vote is noon on Friday.
