What sounds like "bellagio" and is ready to kick Pete Sessions' worthless butt out of Congress?
It's Democratic candidate Grier Raggio*! This is the final day of his weekend fundraising effort to raise $11,210 by 7:00 pm tonight. Why $11,210? Because 11-2-10 is the day Grier Raggio gets elected and we finally get rid of "Taliban" Pete Sessions!
So far, he's raised $8,753 on his Act Blue Page and just needs $2,457 to meet his goal.
I know this is a terrible time to ask for money, but if you've got a spare buck or two, send it to Grier Raggio's Act Blue Page and help our congressional district wrest control from Taliban Pete!
More about Grier Raggio over the jump...
*(h/t Cedwyn for help with finding a clever way to remember how to pronounce his name).
Tired of right-wing anti-choice C-Street freaks writing our health care bills? Sick of Republicans who have nothing to say but "I object?" Well, guess who's perpetrating all that bad behavior--my Congressman, NRCC Chair Pete Sessions, who's working hard to raise money to pack the House with more right-wing freaks just like himself.
Guess who got most of his money last election cycle? Michele Bachmann. Good God, won't someone stop him?
Yes! Someone will stop him! His name is Grier Raggio.
Progressives in TX-32 are fired up about Grier Raggio because of the people he hangs out with--namely his wife and his mom.
Grier's wife, Lorraine Raggio, helped start the Dallas County blue tidal wave in 2004, when she became the the county's first Democrat in 20 years to be elected to a Civil District Court.
Grier's mom is Texas trailblazing lawyer Louise Raggio, who changed Texas' draconian laws requiring women to get their husband's permission for every legal and business transaction.
Grier's a lawyer and this is his first foray into politics, but he's already proven himself as a progressive in his own right by his record of giving to the Democratic party, supporting every Democratic challenger to Pete Sessions since the district was created, as well as the national presidential candidates. Grier is also a supporter of LULAC Council 4871 - The Dallas Rainbow Council, whose mission is to foster dialogue between Latinos and the LGBT community.
Best of all, he's already demonstrating a better temperament for Congress than Pete Sessions, by doing his own "listening tour" of the District, something Pete Sessions is too scared to do. (Pete Sessions like to talk tough, but he'd rather cut and run after a debate than talk to his constituents face-to-face).
This district is winnable. Pete Sessions has never polled higher than 57%, even though the district was gerrymander just for him by his buddy Tom Delay. All Democrats need is a strong candidate who can fire up the Democratic base, and Grier Raggio is that candidate.
Grier Raggio has almost reached his weekend fundraising goal, all he needs is a buck or two from a few hundred people! Help him out by donating through The Progressive Electorate's Act Blue Page, or at Grier Raggio's Act Blue Page.
UPDATE #1: Make that $10,753 that he's raised so far, with only $457 needed to reach his goal!
UPDATE #2: We did it! By 6:00 pm, Grier Raggio exceeded his goal by $543, reaching a total of $11,753 an hour before his deadline of 7:00 pm.
UPDATE #3: Grier Raggio's campaign manager, Ryan Merchant, sent an email this morning, thanking those those who gave to Grier's Act Blue Page--Act Blue raised $13,078 for the weekend "money bomb," and another $11,000 came in through the campaign website, for a grand total of $24,078, exceeding the weekend goal by 12,868! Thanks so much for supporting progressive change in TX-32
