From its humble beginnings more than four years ago at the Riv in Las Vegas, Netroots Nation (then known as YearlyKos) has been a place for folks like you and me to come together and share ideas and strengthen the progressive movement. And out of those many conferences (both national and regional) many partnerships and organizations have been created.
I was thinking about that looking at Bill in Portland Maine's diary today about the launch of Progressive Politically Strategic Campaigns for Twitter (PPST). As this group stated in their own launch diary today:
The Blog Workers Industrial Union came together four months ago in the Sunday Pittsburgh sunshine after Netroots Nation.
Another great organization that has a large presence at Netroots Nation is Netroots For the Troops. The energy that these volunteers put into this organization is always astounding to me. And I know there have been so many other endeavors that have come out of this worthy event.
So to acknowledge what NN has has done for our community, I’d like to ask two things of all of you. A bit of background first. Netroots Nation is holding its first ever Holiday Bazaar online auction auction with all proceeds benefitting NN. All items in this auction are hand-crafted pieces from our community. The auction starts this Friday, December 4th and goes till Tuesday, December 8th. So what are those two things I’d like to ask of you?
• If you have a talent such as baking, artwork, sculpting, etc, etc, we would love it if you can donate an item to this Holiday Bazaar. You can 1)donate online 2) leave a comment below or 3) contact Karen Kolber at Karen at netrootsnation dot org.
• Bid when the auction goes live this Friday!
And here are a few of the items up for bid:
Dee-licious Kentucky Bourbon Balls
A lap robe made by two sisters, Sara and Ann Reed. Sara has been involved with the organization of the Street Prophets signature quilts at Yearly Kos and Netroots Nation.
A custom wool stocking made for you by none other than McJoan.
So check out what is already online and help out Netroots Nation by adding your creative talents to this auction.
