For the GOP, everything that liberals advocate is bad. Therefore, the logic goes, if this site states support for something--no matter how non-partisan-- it must a left-wing, liberal cause that has to be opposed.
This is the modern GOP. This is how depraved the opposition has become.
We speak out against an obvious evil, like the violent gang-rape of Jamie Leigh Jones, a former employee of KBR (previously a subsidiary of Halliburton), and then being victimized again for not being allowed by KBR to bring this obvious criminal case to court. This KBR policy has led to a culture of rape at KBR, where in EVERY SINGLE CASE the rapists go free.
Senator Al Franken introduced a common sense, moral, "family values", anti-rape amendment that would deny funding to contractors that "restrict their employees from taking workplace sexual assault, battery and discrimination cases to court."
Daily Kos applauded the effort. Nice going Kossacks---now we have made fighting rape a "liberal" cause.
As you can see on the DKos front page, Senator Thune from South Dakota called the effort to help these women "Daily Kos-inspired" and stated:
"I think hopefully he'll settle down and do kind of the serious work of legislating that's important to Minnesota."
REALLY? An amendment to prevent the God-awful rape of women is a joke, Sen. Thune? REALLY? Will NO ONE in the media call him on this and ask how this is "not serious work of legislating"?? ANYONE???
Think Progress:
Sen. Kit Bond (R-Mo.), who also voted against the amendment, said, "from what I know of" Franken, he "expected" such tactics. [...]
"It was partisan - and he knew it," said Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.). "That's exactly what I'd expect."
Note to Coburn and Bond--if 10 Republicans cross-over and vote for something, I think we can count that as NON-partisan.
30 people in the Senate (all male and all Republican) decided that protecting a former subsidiary of Halliburton was the priority over protecting women.
If we can't even get the majority of the Repbulicans in the Senate to come to an agreement with us that corporate rape is a BAD THING, then why are we even trying to work with them on issues from climate change to health care?
This derangement is really starting to take a toll.
Not too long ago, President Obama ordered the killing of three Somali pirates which led to the rescue the captain, who was suffering in captivity.
Once again...GOP logic: If the liberals are anti-pirate, then maybe we should re-evaluate our position.
Rush Limbaugh:
"You know what we have learned about the Somali pirates, the merchant marine organizers that were wiped out at the order of Barack Obama, you know what we learned about them? They were teenagers. The Somali pirates, the merchant marine organizers who took a US merchant captain hostage for five days were inexperienced youths, the defense secretary, Roberts Gates, said yesterday, adding that the hijackers were between 17 and 19 years old... That's the story, but then when one of them put a gun to the back of the captain, Mr. Phillips, then bam, bam, bam. There you have it, and three teenagers shot on the high seas at the order of President Obama."
Actually said this...this is NOT a parody folks.
What is the GOP going to do when they find out that we hate terrorists? I'll tell you what, re-evaluate their position. When they find out we love Jesus? Re-evaluate! (HE did have a lot of liberal positions after all.)
When they find out we love America? You guessed it: re-evaluate.
You lefties want to spend some of OUR money for OUR infrastructure...or health care? Screw you! That money is for Iraqi infrastrucure only--BETTER YET, let's just give away billions of dollars of taxpayer money on huge cargo pallets that will just vanish! YAY teabags!
Bottom line, we fight for it...we make it partisan. GOP opposes. No.. matter.. what. I would argue to the GOP that this logic is twisted and inherently evil, but because I said that on this site, they might re-evaluate evil. I guess that beats agreeing with a liberal.
