So apparently the scariest thing in all of DC is the threat of a filibuster. It's been the death of just about all progressive legislation lately. But why?
Shouldn't they actually, you know, have to FILIBUSTER something to actually kill it? What's wrong with actually making the Republicans and Lieberman actually have to do the hard work of maintaining a filibuster?
Make them stay up all night and read phonebooks to the chamber. Stop all business until the filibuster is broken. Scream "Up or down vote" all over the cable news.
Just fucking fight already.
If our leadership actually made them follow through on the threat of a filibuster maybe they wouldn't use it quite so much. And quite possibly we might be able to break the filibuster and actually get some good legislation passed for once.
PS: This is my 1st diary. Sorry if it's a bit short, but I'm more interested in starting a conversation that pontificating.
