Just as Hillary Clinton was a prohibitive favorite to win the Democratic Party nomination in 2008 and failed, the same may happen to President Obama in 2012.
Many of us feel extremely disappointed that President Obama is not progressive enough. However, we are in his debt for showing us the way to upset a prohibitive favorite in the Democratic Party nomination process and nominate, at least so we think at the time, a person "for the People."
Obama's 2008 campaign was remarkable for what it did in overcoming the momentum and seemingly inevitable nomination of Hillary Clinton. Someone may have to be that same underdog in 2012 running against an incumbent President Obama. Someone can take his same techniques and lead the left and win the Democratic Party nomination and then the White House. Quite frankly, without the support of this Blog and others like it Obama likely cannot win re-nomination.
Obama, it appears, does not have the fight to be President for progressive causes.
In 2012 the Democratic Party may find that an underdog, like Obama in 2008, rises up to win on a platform of truly delivering progressive change.
