I know many of us write letters to the editor of our local papers (or beyond). Many, many excellent examples have been either inspired or published here at Kos (though my experience is that one should not post a letter online until giving your paper a chance to publish it; many will not publish it it's already published elsewhere, and yes, they search the blogs).
What about having a diary series (weekly, daily?) where we can focus that process -- generate LTE's and link to those that get published (in many cases, you can comment on them, thus furthering the chance to educate and advocate the issue). Maybe also inspire and motivate more folks to write them by helping to spotlight stories or issues that need a response, or to discuss newspapers where there are problems with the LTE process (I know there are longstanding issues with The Oklahoman, and surely it is not a singular case. Okay, it may well be.).
If this series were weekly, I could manage it myself, I think. But if the community wanted something daily, I would probably need to recruit a team of helpers, a la Diary Rescue.
What do y'all think about this idea? Good, bad, needs tweaking, just use Open Thread? As far as I know, this has not been done on DKos before. Correct me if I'm wrong.
