one bite at a time’s quilt, “Spring is Coming”
“Love Catcher” quilts, as they have been called, contain messages from the Kossack community for a member needing a lift to their spirit, written in archival ink, sewn together with colorful and meaningful printed fabrics. They are a way of supporting our online friends in a warm and meaningful way – like a whole bunch of greeting cards. One cannot snuggle a bunch of greeting cards, however -- and they will not keep your toes warm, not like this!
So far, quilts have been made for:
othniel (cellulitis and ensuing complications)
exmearden (cancer of heart and lung)
MsSpentyouth (brain tumor)
Moe99 (lung cancer)
Michelle Caudle (ovarian cancer)
BFSkinner (lupus)
Kitsap River (waiting for kidney donor)
Frederick Clarkson (blood clots)
Dreaming of Better Days (lymphoma)
one bite at a time (lost house and belongings to fire)
There are pictures of prior quilts here if you would like to take a look.
Timroff, who is near the end of a long battle with cellulitis, will be shipped a quilt this coming week – his is on the design wall and will be sewn this weekend.
The next quilt in the queue is for Sol Fed Joe. The quilt is funded (at $4 per message) for forty-four messages and I need twenty-two more messages for him to proceed. You may not know him for he mostly lurks – but he is a faithful Daily Kos reader and he is going through a really hard time. To include a message in Joe’s quilt, please leave it in the comments below. To give you an idea of the type of uplifting message that we need, here is what we have so far:
