To Quote Jon Stewart, Yemen's not our enemy, it's just an anagram of enemy!
But seriously, as you all already know, Joe "Mentia" Lieberman has suggested some sort of pre-emptive strike on Yemen. Because Joe Lieberman is completely F*#$ing insane. And I want to go on record as being 100% in favor and supportive of it!
Let me clarify, i'm not in favor of a strike against Yemen, like i said, F*#$ing insane. But Joe Lieberman saying it on TV? HECK YES I SUPPORT IT!
...no, i'm being serious, this seems like a problem, but in reality it's a solution. Joe Lieberman needs to be on TV all the time. like, all the time. 100% of the time. the man has a desperate, painful, somewhat humiliating need to constant be teh center of attention, and that is a need that he will never overcome. It's a need based on the fact that the majority of the people in his own party and his own state despise him, and due to that he'll always need to be told how important he is. You know this to be true, you've seen it in the past and you'll see it again in the future. It will never end, Lieberman's like a drunk 21 year old girl at spring break ripping off her shirt for the camera. Except instead of a drunken 21 year old, he's a sitting US Senator, and instead of appearing in a girls gone wild video he's intentionally sabotaging his own political party's policy agenda and advocating for insane wars.
And, from what i can see, those are the two easiest and surest ways for him to consistantly get on TV:
a) Intentionally sabotaging his party's policy agenda.
b) Advocating for insane wars.
Now, up 'til now he's been going with plan a), and i hate plan a), so it's nice to see plan b) get it's time in the sunlight. It gives Lieberman what he needs (unhealthy amounts of attention) and does significantly less harm to the democratic party/country/world. Because, nuts and bolts, Lieberman DOES NOT HAVE THE POWER to bomb Yemen. When he talks about it it is empty air, fleeting and flatulant. He DOES, however have the power to sabotage any and every worthy policy initiative the democratic party puts forward. So, if he has to spout one type of nonsense or the other on the Sunday morning talk shows, i'm definately prefering it to be plan b).
So spout on Joe Lieberman, god speed to you! Discuss how we need to pre-emptively act to deal with Yemen! Discuss how "calm minds" agree that we need to bomb Syria! Advocate passionately that only a saturation bombing campain will stop Lybia from developing atomic weapons! And we will know that, wherever there are poor, brown people living over top of oil, you'll be there, talking of war!
...and i've no doubt that, the mainstream cable media being what it is, they'll gladly give you a megaphone to express your views. The rest of us, meanwhile, will just be over here, quietly working in support of progressive legislation. You leave us alone to our goals and aspirations, and we'll leave you to yours. Sounds like a deal to me, Joe, how about you?
