After stamping on the head of a George Bush doll on a network comedy show, Liberal MP Carolyn Parrish was thrown out of caucus today by Prime Minister Paul Martin (
link). This is a last-ditch attempt at damage control before BullShit's visit to Canada on November 30.
It probably won't work. Parrish, as she reminded Martin to his face, needs the Liberals less than they need her. She is being quietly backed up by several other female members of the Liberal caucus, who remain unimpressed by BullShit's manly packages. PM Martin is in a horrible dilemma. Parrish could bring down the government and force a national election, and with Bush loathing at the level it is in Canada, the only big winners would be the socialist New Democratic Party. It wouldn't surprise me if Parrish crossed over to the NDP herself next election.
Expect fireworks November 30. The PM desperately wants a nicey-nicey visit for BullShit, and much of the media is lining up to suck up, but there's literally nothing bad that could happen to George that wouldn't elicit shrugs from half of Canada, and cheers and laughter from the rest.
