I am not a political junkie.
There, that felt good.
Now that that's out of the way, I wanted to say goodbye (at least for a while) to the dkos community and say thanks for the interesting discussions. It's time to return to my regularly scheduled life, free from political intrigue and dreams of democracy.
It was fun for awhile, wasn't it? All of us middle aged political first timers feeling like we we're going to change the world! They called us "Deaniacs", but I never liked that term, sounded too much like maniacs (hmmm)!
Then of course reality hit. We scared the crap out of everyone, the media, DNC, RNC, you name it, and boy did they come after us! Even old Dick Gephardt fell on his sword to get rid of us. We've been Club-for-growthed, Carvillized, DNCed, RNCed, Dowded, Russerted, and scream-enhanced till we don't know which end is up. The audible sigh of relief eminating from Washington at Dean's defeat in Iowa could be heard round the world.
You know, I met Dean when he was Lt Governor. Great guy, smart, honest, straight foward, tons of integrity. A real decent, very hard working, down to earth person. After Dean was elected to his first full term as Governor, I thought, this guy would make a great President. He's ambitious, but with a good heart.
But I failed to fully comprehend what Dean would be up against. The political parties in this country are mafias, each protecting their own turf. Its all about money and power, with little to do with the welfare of our country or average Americans. Most Americans are far to comfortable in their Janet/Michael Jackson world too really care about politics, they just want to be told who too vote for. And that answer would be: John Kerry. The consummate Washington insider and politician. I real status quo guy. No one (other than the other mafia) is going to lose their job if John Kerry is elected.
I will vote for Howard in my upcoming primary, but then what?
Are you going to fall in line?
