Howard Dean was the featured speaker at a GOTV rally at Pier 30 in downtown Seattle today. Most of the statewide Democratic candidates spoke to a crowd of maybe a thousand people or so. The event was over an hour late getting started, and flight delays caused Gov. Dean to arrive a good hour after the (already-delayed) event began, but nonetheless he received a rock star's welcome.
I won't spend time repeating what he said, as it primarily boiled down to an exhortation to the volunteers to "work their butts off" through the election. The highlight was a riff on "The Scream" when he pointed out that if Democrats concentrate on turning out their core constituencies (e.g., single women) "We'll win in Washington... and we'll win in Oregon, and we'll win in South Carolina, we'll win in Michigan, we'll win in..." The crowd ate it up, screaming wildly, and Dean himself cracked up on stage at the response.
