In May of 2001, just a few months into his first term, President Bush delivered the commencement address at Yale University (Dick Cheney flunked out of there), where he was greeted by protests.
Today, President Obama will deliver the commencement address at the University of Notre Dame, where he will be greeted by protests.
Therefore, Obama = Bush and/or Cheney.

And speaking of wordsmiths...
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin signed a deal with Random House this week to co-write her memoir, and remarked on how her extensive knowledge will come in handy.
"Being a voracious reader, I read a lot today and have read a lot growing up. And having that journalism degree, all of that, will be a great assistance for me in writing this book, talking about the challenges and the joys, balancing the work and parenting, and, in my case, work means running the state. I've read a variety of books, and that helps shape my opinions and my views."
:: Flashback ::
COURIC: And when it comes to establishing your worldview, I was curious: what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?
PALIN: I've read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media.
COURIC: But, like, what ones specifically? I'm curious.
PALIN: All of 'em, any of 'em that have been in front of me over all these years.
COURIC: Can you name a few?
PALIN: I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news too. Alaska isn't a foreign country, where, it's kind of suggested and it seems like, 'Wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C. may be thinking and doing when you live up there in Alaska?' Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America. |
Going back a little further in time...
Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of Larry Johnson's "Whitey" tape teaser.
I now have it from two sources that there is video dynamite — Michelle Obama railing against "whitey" at Jeremiah Wright’s church. Republicans may have a lousy record when it comes to the economy and the management of the war in Iraq, but they are hell on wheels when it comes to opposition research. Someone took the chance and started reviewing the recordings from services at Jeremiah Wright’s United Church of Christ. Holy smoke!! I am told there is a clip that is being held for the fall to drop at the appropriate time. The last thing Barack and Michelle need is a new clip that raises further questions about her judgment and temperament.
Needless to say, we're still waiting for that to drop.
And finally, taking us back to childhood...
One of the agenda items at a special meeting of the Republican National Committee next week is to formally rename the opposition from the Democratic Party to the "Democrat Socialist Party" — a strategy perhaps modeled after the very successful effort to rename French fries "Freedom fries." [...]
During an online chat yesterday hosted by the Washington Post, one participant who called himself a "lifelong Republican" appeared exasperated before offering up his own strategy.
"Seriously? At long last, that’s the party of Lincoln?" he wrote. "Why not just call 'em the 'Democrat Socialist Poopy-head Baby-Eater Party' and be done with it?"
No kidding.
