The arrival of summer changes my knitting habits a bit - I'm more likely to use non-wool, non-alpaca yarns for a couple months. But I do keep knitting.
Side note: no one had signed up for today, and since we missed last week as well, I'm posting this rather quick diary on short notice. can anyone do the next three weeks? I can do a couple if no one else can, but please feel free to jump in if you have ideas for good topics!
Normally, the arrival of summer doesn't slow down my knitting at all. In fact, the nice evenings sitting on the apartment balcony are quite conducive to the production of baby sweaters, dishcloths, and the like. Unfortunately, at the moment, my life is currently a bit chaotic (major changes combined with planning an 80th birthday party for my dad are taking lots of my time) so I don't have much current to share.
So I'm going to dig back into previous projects for a summer fun bit. Three and a half years ago, a co-worker had a long-sought-after child (following several years of trying....). So I made matching summer tops for them -- a little halter top {Katja from Knitty} for the six month old adorable girl and a tank top {another Knitty pattern: Soleil} from the same yarn (Knitpicks Shine Sport in a bright pink; pink is the the mother's favorite color) for the mother and daughter. While her daughter has outgrown her Katja, the mother is still wearing her Soleil.
Both patterns are easy but look impressive to non-knitters (my favorite kind of pattern, just like the stash of recipes I have for foods that taste wonderful and look complicated but that are very simple to make!). And both are excellent for summer knitting and wearing ;-)
So..... what are you working on? Inquiring minds want to know......
Finally, a couple of Dad's photos (what he's always working on.....), just to make it worth your while to have opened up this diary ;-)
WAYWO is a continuing series about what Kossacks are working on {mostly crafts but we're flexible and (at least in my case) inquisitive, so don't be shy about sharing}, usually posted around this time on Sundays. A Yahoo group includes a mailing listto announce when the diary is posted and a schedule of hosts. Feel free to sign up for future weeks or you'll just get me blathering on about genealogy and knitting. (If you don't want to sign up for the Yahoo group {it is only one or two emails a week!}, email me and I'll add you to the schedule.)
