It is very interesting that the American media is showing the protestors and doing extensive reporting on the election that is going on in Iran, however when hundreds of thousands were here protesting the war and the actions of the Bush Administration there was no media to be found. Here is the media again marketing a political position. They are influencing the American people with their biased coverage.
Without any information or research on the matter they have all but said the Iranian elections are a fraud. Putting on people who are selling this line like John McCain. Who gave the authority to the media to declare the elections a fraud? I think they might be stroking the embers and trying to start something between the US military and Iran. How come they haven’t figured out who leaked the name of the CIA agent?
Our political system is not without its flaws, so what give America the right to be the democratic police. It seems the media is trying to influence a war policy in the new administration with their covering of North Korea, Iran, the Somali pirates, and the fighting in Pakistan. Remember that we are an infant nation when it comes to matters of race and gender. Thank goodness we have a president that understands this is a situation for the Iranian people to resolve. When we can speak freely here about matters concerning race and gender then maybe we can lead on democracy. Remember that our democracy is still in the making and many of the disenfranchisement that is reported to have taken place in Iran is similar to the problems millions of Americans face during our elections. We have not perfected our own election process and now we are going to pass judgment on elections being held all the way in Iran.
Once again, I’m going to call out the media, and show what hypocrites they are and how irresponsible they are. When Bush was lying to us about weapons of mass destruction they did no research, they reported exactly what the right wing republicans wanted them to report. Now we are seeing it again. By focusing on this election in Iran we are butting into things that do not concern us. We have many issues here that need to be reported on where is the substance in the reporting of the American media. I was watching CNN and they were talking about the spelling bee. Kiran asked a guest if he could spell a word and the guest asked if she could use the word in a sentence. Her reply was "no" and she really couldn’t because she didn’t. She had done no research on the spelling bee and even less on the word she was about to ask a guest to spell.
These are the kinds of people that are going around calling themselves reporters. The way I see it the main stream media is just a lot of throwing up imagery and opinions, there is very little facts. They are just throwing opinions out there trying to get people emotional and then they become reactionary, this is dangerous style of reporting. When you are not giving quality information and people are making decisions based on the information you are providing then there should be some accountability when you incite or put out inaccurate information.
When people were protesting the war in Iraq and thousands would show up in Washington DC they would be lucky to get a still picture much less moving video on every cable channel. Where was the Medias responsibility to the American people? Why is what’s going on half way around the world more important than what was happening in our nations capital and cities across the country. Why are they so eager to have the American government to have a response and protect democracy abroad but did nothing to help preserve it right here in America?
The Iranian people are free to protest but the American media enabled the Bush Administration in its attempt to silence the voices of the American people. Where is the apology..? The media seems to think the election of Barack Obama has cleared them of their ineptitude during the Bush years but their coverage since the inauguration and their hyper reporting of the tensions between the US, Iran, and North Korea is prickled with the subtext of a possible war with either of those countries. It shows they have not changed and are still tools of someone’s political agenda and have a long way to go before I will consider them a credible source of information.
