A fun post, then I'm out for the weekend. Watching the two conventions over several days this summer, I made several promises to myself. As a list, I like to call them "When I Am a Delegate":
- I will wear a big silly hat.
- I will bring a Sharpie everywhere I go for instant autographs.
- I will bring many business cards.
- I will investigate the idea of bringing an inflatable beach ball.
- I will arrive back in my hotel after sunrise every night.
- I will accept all free buttons that are offered me. Even if I don't wear them, they're awesome souvenirs.
- Related: I will take home with me every custom sign I can get my hands on.
- I will go every night. Pity the fools who said Tuesday night would be boring and missed out on Obama.
- I will cry when my heroes speak.
- I will not dance. No delegate at any convention ever looks good dancing on C-Span.
- I will not dress head to toe in stars and stripes motif. Ugly.
- I will not give spare credentials to fundraisers.
- I will not talk on my cell phone while in the hall. I am in the center of the universe...anything imporant is happening right in front of me.
- I will give spare credentials to high school kids who care about this stuff. They should be there more than anyone.
