John Ensign (R-NV) on why his extramarital affair was special:
Nevada U.S. Sen. John Ensign told The Associated Press on Wednesday that his affair with a friend's wife was different from former President Bill Clinton's affair in the White House because Clinton committed a felony when he lied about it to a grand jury.
"I haven't done anything legally wrong," the Nevada Republican said.
Good point. Because if we assume that he didn't have sex with his employee and the wife of his good friend in any jurisdiction where adultery was illegal, and that the $96,0000 paid out wasn't for services rendered and was properly reported, and that he didn't use any campaign funds or PAC money to pay off his mistress, then sure, he didn't do anything illegal.
Carry on.
