Single Payer is the way to go. Pris from LA and I have been organizing the Single Payer Happy Hour on the last Friday of every month since June. The next one is this Friday Aug 28 from 5PM to 7PM at the corner of Topanga Canyon and Califa on the Warner Center Park in Woodland Hills near the HQ for Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Wellpoint, Health Net and others.
And now we have reinforcements!!!! California One Care is joining us.
These people are really organized and they have a 3 year plan to implement Single Payer in California. This diary is about their fabulous organization and plan. Please recommend and read on!

From their About Us;
This California OneCare Campaign is an historic grassroots movement to educate millions of Californians and build overwhelming public support for single payer universal health care in California.
We support single payer legislation, Senate Bill 810, authored by Senator Mark Leno. In its previous versions (SB 840 authored by Senator Sheila Kuehl), this bill passed both houses of the California legislature twice, only to be vetoed by Governor Schwarzenegger, who stated that "Health care is not a right."
We believe that healthcare is not only a right, but it is also a moral obligation in any enlightened society. Indeed, every other developed nation on earth provides comprehensive health care for its entire population, and does so for less than half of what we spend on our inadequate system in the U.S. Almost all of them use some form of single payer, non-profit health care financing system.
1st he Kucinich Amendment to HR 3200 must be passed. This will allow states to create their own Single Payer systems.
2nd the Kucinich-Conyers HR 676 bill should be supported. This is the national Single Payer bill.
Watch this video where Kucinich explains it.
I am very impressed with California One Care. I had the pleasure of meeting Don Schroeder, co-chair of California One Care at the meetings of yet another fantastic California health care reform organization Health Care for All.
The California health care movement is coalescing and gaining speed.
Don is on the head table by the white board lower left corner.
Here is photo of another another Heath Care for All meeting Pris and I attended. She is holding the Single Payer sign.
Don Schroeder is also the liaison to the entertainment industry and has enlisted many celebrities, something I will cover in future diaries. These celebrities will participate in the 365 Ad Campaign starting on November 1st. For this they will need donations. So be generous.
In addition, Sylvia Moore, another outstanding California Health care organizer and friend, is publicizing the Single Payer Happy Hour on Friday in health care Meetup groups. God bless her.
Another thing we can do in Los Angeles is to support Marcy Winograd's campaign. Here we are demonstrating in front of Rep. Henry Waxman's office recently. Marcy is running against Jane Harman, need I say more. Marcy is for Single Payer, let alone the Public Option, unlike Jane Harman.
The movement for effective health care reform in California is happening. It will take 3 years culminating with the 2012 election given the expected vetoes and appeals that California One Care expects. And once California goes Single Payer, the whole country will move in that direction.
So...
Join us this Friday at the corner of Topanga and Califa in Woodland Hills. We will be there every last Friday of the month until Single Payer is a reality in California.
