Man, oh, man, oh, man....
Chuck Grassley, the man the President touted as one working hard for a bipartisan bill has been the senator with the largest knife in our President's back. Since Grassley has been home he has been anything but centrist or bipartisan. Let's just say, or we hope, the Obama White House have learned a very hard lesson.
I do get it, Grassley has to deal with the right winged nut jobs in Iowa, his home state, but why any Democrat will continue to state that Senator Chuck Grassley is committed to a bipartisan bill on health care reform is just utter bullshit at its highest magnitude.
I had to rush you this Air-Gram today to set the record straight on my firm and unwavering opposition to government-run health care.
And ask your immediate support in helping me defeat “Obama-care.”
I’m sure you’ve been following this issue closely. If the legislation sponsored by Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the House of Representatives and Chairman Ted Kennedy in the Senate is passed it would be a pathway to a government takeover of the health care svstem. lt would turn over control of your health care decisions to a federal bureaucrat … and take it away from you and your personal physician.
Notice, that Senator Ted Kennedy is not cold in his grave, but his name it used for raising money to defeat any Obama health care bill. That alone just show, that the Republican Party could give a damn about any bill with the President's fingerprint on it.
We all know that Grassley, the Republican congress and the GOP operatives are just straight up LIARS. But we can only do so much, we have a cap on what WE can do, the voice needs to come from the White House. The voice needs to come from the largest megaphone in this country, the President's voice.
And Senator Chris Dodd said just that:
And former Republican Bob Dole, who is pretty moderate, stated the same thing:
Obama's approval numbers would jump 10 points if Americans knew he was fully in charge. A tactical move of introducing his own plan would also stir more Republicans to become active for reform in critical areas. Right now the president's biggest problem is with congressional Democrats, who are split and searching for a way out of the medical wilderness.
In short, the president, Congress and the public are choking on all this, and choking is not covered by the legislation.
But will the Obama White House listen? That is the question, because if they are hell bent on a bipartisan bill and willing to do anything to get it, at the end what is the point? I understand that the public option can get a reconciliation vote and I see that is the way that will go, but does it matter so much to have Republicans aboard?
See the Republicans, when they were in power could not care less about Democrats and they showed it. No one was allowed any input on any bills crafted, George Bush got practically everything he wanted passed, the Democrats were just scum.
I understand offering an olive leaf, but for how long and is this attempt going to be for everything?
And lastly, with this statement from the White House:
Meanwhile, Obama returned from his vacation in Massachusetts on Martha's Vineyard and, after a few days at Camp David, will redouble his efforts "toward getting a bipartisan result" on health care overhaul, said deputy White House press secretary Bill Burton. "After he gets a little time to recharge his batteries...he's going to come back as rip-roaring as he was before," Burton said.
Folks are antsy, angry and confused by the constant non-message from the Obama White House. I focus on Obama because he is the President of the United States. The average Joe and Josetta don't understand how congress works, they look at the end result and they are not seeing it coming from this White House. They are the voter that is the 30 second, drive by voter who catches the sound bite on television. Obama supporters know this, it took us 2 years to educate these type of voters and we worked hard at doing so. It is no wonder that Democrats and Independents are perplexed at this constant wanting to work with the Republicans after they have repeatedly dissed not only this White House but the President at the same time. And the words from Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel has not helped us folks, activists over at the left. Shit, since Rahm has such disdain for us, then don't call us for any help in 2010, you do it yourself.
So, what will it take for Barack Obama to move? Get out of that bubble? For people to be straight with him on what is going on out here? I say poll numbers in the 40s. That is called "eyebrows on fire".
