One of two things is true, either the Republican sweep will lead down a path of eroding the liberties we all hold so dearly, as the concerns of Sean Penn and Barbara Streisand and Mike Moore have vocalized, or it won't. To claim both is whinning. The folks that are concerned with the future of the progressive movement need to join together and make something happen. Do you want more jobs, better opportunities for those at the bottom end of the economic ladder, more freedom to decide to participate in the rat race (or not)? Do you want more artistic freedom, or more taxpayer sponsorship? Do you want to be constrained by tradition, or freed from it to tackle whatever alternative opportunities seem worthy? Progressives need to get beyond whinning, and into prioritization, mobilization, and focus.
