This past weekend the
New York Times did a story on the YearlyKos convention where, which I sadly cannot make.
Matt Bai believes it will be a decade before we will begin to show real gaines within the party. Let's prove him wrong today.
I have been doing whatever I can to "crash the gate" for months now and I wanted a place for other members to let the community, and those who are watching us, know that we are crashing the gate now, not a decade from now.
I want the world to know about the candidates who are active members of the community, those of you who are working to get involved in our local areas, and those of us who are actively positioning ourselves inside the gates we are crashing.
If this diary is successful at achieving a massive list of members who are working it can be used as proof that community members are doing what we can to break through the gate without destroying the existing infrastructure.
I do not believe that we will replace the existing groups who do so much to fund what the party is doing, I believe our strength lies in our zeal and willingness to put our time to active use.
What we learn on these pages gives us a better understanding of what those who are committed to make the Democratic Party effective and appealing to the true Party constituents want from those who wish our help in getting them into positions where they would represent the people.
This zeal and knowledge makes us ideally suited to assist those represent use, discern the truth about those who wish to represent us, and even to actually represent us, the people of the Democratic Party.
Instead of going to Las Vegas I persuaded my family to go to Arlington Texas in order for me to do some gate crashing of my own at the Texas State Convention.
I have given up on my plans for a full "Take Back Texas Tour" due to the facts that only three statewide candidates would be able to make the full tour and I have been unable to find a way to raise enough funds to entice the other statewide candidates into joining the tour.
I will present a downsized version to the candidates that are willing to make the tour and, with their help, I will try to get a sponsor from the groups represented there.
I will also be doing some volunteer work for David Van Os and possibly the Lt. Governor candidate Maria Louisa Alvarado.
