Sarah Palin's forthcoming book, who said it "will describe Ms. Palin's frustration over her treatment by the staffers she inherited from the McCain campaign after her surprise pick as the GOP vice presidential nominee last year. Ms. Palin was booked on grueling interviews with hostile reporters while talk-show hosts such as Glenn Beck couldn't even get through to her aides."
Ben Smith:
Palin did a small handful of tough television interviews -- memorably with Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric -- at the outset, and then became totally unavailable to most of the press. She was, however, incessantly on Fox, speaking particularly regularly to Sean Hannity and Van Sustern.
What Ben Smith doesn't understand is that for Palin, Katie Couric was totally grueling and hostile. She asked if Palin read newspapers! Harsh! Throw in Charlie Gibson, and there you have it -- way too many non-Fox interviews for any wingnut to bear. But when she runs for president of Fox in 2012, she can camp out at FNC HQ's green room, and run her national campaign appealing to people of all political stripes from Glenn Beck's show. I'm sure it'll go just peachy.

I think we all understand that there are many sites -- Kos, Redstate, even TPM -- where readers are allowed to set up their own blogs or diaries and write their own stuff. These are essentially discussion areas. And it's a cheap shot when someone finds some nutty diary on Kos and says DailyKos published such and such. Newsmax is claiming that that's what's happening here. But we've taken a close look. And I think it's clear that that is not true. Perry has written a weekly column for the site going back to at least 1999. And he's prominently listed on the bio page of all Newsmax columnists, along with Dick Morris, Dr. Laura, Grover Norquist, Lanny Davis, Michael Reagan, Rep. Ernest Istook, etc.
In other words, you screw up, you're suddenly demoted to "blogger" status!
I think Blanche Lincoln, Kent Conrad and Max Baucus all have plenty of constituents who make 30k a year just like Rockefeller. But they'd rather see them suffer than risk being called a socialist by some confused teabagger or lose a big campaign check from Blue Cross. It's a choice. And what they choose tells you a whole lot about the character of those making it.
Nine months in, it's obvious that the only choice Real Americans have is to stage a coup. The lessons they've learned from recent presidencies is that impeachment is no sure thing and that unless you can get close enough to steal elections, you might get stuck with someone you didn't vote for. So they're dreaming of more tried and true methods. That whole democracy thing is very inconvenient.
There are worse things in life than not being invited to the next White House cocktail party. Like, you know, failing in your mission.
"We believe that on the issue of climate change the Chamber has not represented the diversity of perspective held by the board of directors," the company says in a statement obtained by POLITICO. "Therefore, we have decided to resign our board of directors position." Nike has long been a strong advocate for government action to combat global warming and has said it "fundamentally disagrees" with the Chamber's position on the climate bill. The company helped found Business for Innovative Climate & Energy Policy, a coalition of businesses supporting congressional action to address climate and energy legislation. Although environmentalists have called on Nike to quit the lobbying association complete – as several high-profile corporations have recently — Nike plans to continue its membership in the Chamber in order to "advocate for climate change legislation" from within the organization, the company says.

Nice, but I'm a bit confused. Wouldn't Nike be a more effective advocate for climate change legislation while serving on the board, rather than by being a random dues-paying member? They'd make a bigger statement by quitting the organization outright, like these guys:
On Monday, Chicago-based Exelon Corp. said it would not renew its membership in the Chamber; last week, Pacific Gas & Electric, a major California utility, and PNM Resources, a holding company that includes a large New Mexico utility, withdrew from the group.
Her response has been to panic, shit on her constituents, and try to appeal to the teabagging set by becoming more Republican than many Republicans. Fine. But she's going to find that 1) few come to her rescue, and 2) even fewer will care when she loses. It'll be good riddance, actually.
"What would you suggest we do," asked one activist, "if we are asked to give up our guns?" "Don’t you dare give up your guns!" thundered Werthmann. "Never, never, never!" "Give them back one bullet at a time!" called out another activist. The tense atmosphere melted a little bit; the room broke up with laughter.
Ha ha ha ha!
You know what else is hilarious?
Off the stage, the fears and conspiracy theories about President Obama grew more obscure. One activist told TWI that Obama may have been "installed" after decades of lessons from Communists. Peggy Carter, an Eagle Forum leader from North Carolina, fretted that Obama was "anti-white," and had only stealthily revealed that to Americans because "he can’t afford" to make it obvious.
It's like a live-action re-enactment of Saturday Hate Mail-apalooza!
