i am getting sick and tired of time after time of the most inane, immature and bullshit spin that dominates the public debate about every story that breaks. i don't think i am alone in this and what i believe alot of the modern progressive movement is about, a more mature governing process, especially since so many of the problems facing us are as serious as they are(hint, its not a golfer i won't name but as we know, foreign policy that has to change, global enviromental meltdown to name a couple). and that brings me to the latest, the retiring democrat senator's and the usual spin i have witnessed unfolding.
The question is what to do about changing that kind of discussion to one of adults. I am not sure what the answer is but I do know after 40 years of watching all this, since the night when I saw bobby killed in front of my 8 year old eyes after giving an amazing speech and seeing just how serious things get, that participating in the foolishness will accomplish nothing, unless you consider increased hostility an accomplishment.
My suggestion in the latest, the democrat senators, is to embrace it.
Scream from the top of the mountain how great it is. It's a chance for new blood and an opportunity to make the changes in policy we progressives seek, and this is what really matters. Of course that will require better scrutiny of candidates but there is a responsibility of the public to make known its voice(that is where the dailykos and other activist organizations have their place).
So I say hooray for Connecticut!
And hooray for North Dakota!
Opportunity Knocks.
