Sorry Blackwaterdog but you need thicker skin. Blacks folks have it cause we have to. We are use to disappointment. Get it all the time. Especially in politics, mostly from elected officials, usually white men who we've voted for since we've been given the right to vote. So here's the deal. Obama will fail. There will be people who will work to make him fail and he will fail because of choices he has made.
Whatever the case may be, we need to snap out of our funk and "keep on, keeping on". Move forward, fight, not give up. Feeling sad is okay. It feels good sometimes. But being pissed is better. Being angry rocks. Time to fight. Time to get mad. Sad for too long is unproductive and it sucks.
Black folks are disappointed almost everyday. Like now for instance when we see story after story with pictures of Haitians or like in the past of New Orleans victims of Katrina and news shows that paint us as violent criminals usually when we need help the most. The constant avalanche of negativity is destructive to the ego and its there everyday, on tv newshows, dramas, newspapers, blogs, etc.
Some of us break down and are destroyed by it. For some, it bounces right off. But for most of us, it adds another layer to that thick skin that we've been growing since the day we were born.
Snap out of it! Grow a spine. Sorry I'm being so rough on you. I really like your diaries but really, this is only the beginning.
When we begin to fight Wall Street its not going to be a cake walk and guess what, Obama can't fight it alone.
Obama is not God. He is a man. A better man in that office than we've seen in a long time. Remember, the government is in his hands----and ours.
