I read somewhere in passing, that we have the power to be heard THROUGH
OUR POCKETBOOKS. That writer is correct. Corporations like the Media
cant do more than we let them if we dont buy what they sell.

It is also true what Ariana Huffington said that "we can show our displeasure with banks by not patronizing the offenders. Its simple but
true. With MLK's birthday just going by we need to be reminded what he
and others did when the "law" was against them. When the rules of the game
were set against them. They refused to "play". If they couldnt ride the
buses with the same comfort and freedom as everyone else; they WOULDNT

We dont have to watch FOX, or MSNBC or CNN at all. We can keep up with the
news by radio or internet. It will be hard. It was hard for me to turn off
MSNBC because I liked Olbermann and Maddow so much. I did it nevertheless.

After Tuesday, I didnt watch Morning Joe, Washington Journal or any shows
on those Channels. I have never like FOX, so it was no hardship for me to

not watch that channel. It was hard to make this decision before but after
Tuesday I had enough. I am not going to waste another minute listening to
the bullshit from the corporate suck-ups. Both media and political.

I think it is time for everyone to remember Cunningham. To remember how he
sold out the nation. Threw billions at the military corporations for a
couple of million. I think that he lost his male menopausal mind when
they strutted some butt by him. That old fool was a goner.
No doubt some of those same bedroom boat shenanigans are being auctioned
about right now as we worry over the state of our nation.

Well, I am finally pulling out of my blue funk over the election and thinking about what I can do with my no money and others like me with
their little money. I think we can decide to let our pennies talk for
sell their stuff to some other fools.

I am definitely not going to buy any thing those particular shows sell.
I dont want any coffee from Joe Scarborough. I will stick with my
regular brand. I dont want any insurance from that company that seems
to be all over tv. I am going to do without any products from those
shows altogether.

Maybe they wont have so much money to hire all those lobbyists to buy
support from those Repub S-heads spewing their stuff all over the tubes.
I am sick of Ann Coulter. Why anyone thinks she is sexy is beyond me.
Just the crap she says is a turn off. She seems such a tight ass. You
probably have to pull the pillow out of her butt when she stands up.
She always is so hateful that I turn the channel when she comes on.

That flat-head Hannity lies so much, you really cant believe anything
he says. It is safe to assume just the opposite is true. I am going
to miss Maddow and Olbermann but I really have to go cold turkey right
now. I am just that pissed off. I have break my talk show addiction
the hard way.

If we hope to have any power, we have to let them feel some pain. The
only way to do that is by hitting their corporate pocketbooks.
Things are going downhill so fast, we need to act with some deliberation.
We just cant keep supporting companies that are trying to destroy
the nation.

I was just thinking though, I wish we could change the Constitution and
have Supreme Court Justice elections every 9 years.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

want our money because they can never get enough.

  •  I gave it all up (4+ / 0-)

A long time ago. I don't watch TV, and my life's richer for it. I used to love Colbert and Stewart, but I can get them online. The same is true of Olbermann. I have more time, less stress, and a wonderful sense that I am doing something constructive with my time and energies. My children are learning that TV isn't really any fun or worth it.

A boycott would really work if we could get organized. The question is how to get out the word. That is always why boycotts failed though the tuna one in the 80s really did work. It did force change if I remember correctly, and this issue is far more important for all of us.

I quit watching Fox News after that terrorist fit jab comment by E.D. Hill during the primaries.

I quit watching MSNBC day after the election 2008. Joe, Mika, Matthews got on my nerves. Olbermann made me laugh and Maddow was the smartest one on cable but not enough to keep me watching.

Without the cable news going on in the background my blood pressure dropped 10 points, my hair grew back on my head, my face is radiant, I lost 20 lbs, my dog likes me again, sex is better than ever, and I got a promotion to the corner office.

I highly recommend quitting cable news. The best part is you won't smell like cable news anymore.

  •  Wow, that's SOME pent-up sexual frustration! (0+ / 0-)

After the first paragraph, your disjointed rant actually started to sound delusional.

First off, rest assured that almost everyone has already stopped watching MSNBC and CNN.  Olbermann and Maddow are going to be on food-stamps pretty soon. Their ratings are in the toilet!

However, the worst part of your diary is your stereotypical liberal "vow" that you won't "help those rich bastards" and that you're going to get back at all those evil corporations.  Well, who have you libs been talking about paying for healthcare the last 2 months?  HUH? Those rich bastards, that's who! One minute it's "those rich bastards" and the next minute you're begging: "Please, Please pay for our government entitlements!" What a crock!

You're like the tree-huggers who HATE Exxon-Mobil and then they stop at the gas station to fill up their Prius on the way to the protest rally, after spending the day twittering and Facebooking on their DELL computers running MICROSOFT windows using electricity generated by a COAL-BURNING power plant.  The contradictions are glaring!
    Keep drinking the Kool-Aid Taming!

    •  Wrong (0+ / 0-)

Corporations dont pay any taxes here. Regular
people pay the taxes. Its the nickels and dimes
that add up from our Social Security taxes.

I will bet you that these corporations WONT leave

You give the Corporations too much credit. They get
their money from US the people who buy their crap.

Dont you remember what just happened a while ago.
They market crashed over nite. NO MONEY MEANS KAPUT!!!!!

The world of the world including China depends on us

  •  A 20% cut in spending that I used to do (3+ / 0-)

that a corporation reaped the benefit of... multiplied by millions is HUGE. If we could do 40% then they really would scream.

So carefully pick where you will let some corporation that is anti-liberal, anti-progressive, anti-socialist make some profit from you. It is difficult because they are so interwoven and secretive about those connections. So a flat reduction across the board is the easiest way. So while I may give up TV altogether next month (thats our plan) we will still catch Rachel and Colbert and Stewart on the net occassionally. Since we watched like 2 hours a night that comes to moer than a 40% cut.

Now I am using a bread machine to make bread from unadulterated flour. We are grinding our own hamburger when we eat it because we heard that the corporate meat packers are grinding up stuff that dropped on floor after they treat it with ammonia- Yuck. We are growing a garden and setting up a greenhouse. We are buying second hand when we can so that we buy less new and less goes into the dump. There are a thousand ways to shave off what is ending incorporate pockets.

  •  Why Washington Journal? (1+ / 0-)
    Recommended by:

CSPAN does not have advertisers and does not even participate in any audience rating services. Brian Lamb claims that they have no idea how big or small their audience is. It's a public service that receives 5 cents a month for every cable subscriber. Why should we not watch or call in to Washington Journal? It is on at 4am where I live so I record it and scan it every day. It is a great source of information without any annoying talking heads.

    •  CSPAN DOES NEED RATINGS (0+ / 0-)

Cspan needs the money from corporations. Corporations get the money from US. We pay our
      satellite and cable bills.

If Cspans ratings go down, they will want to know
why. The WHY is that Cspan has become to Republican
leaning in its guests and telephone calls.

I have noticed that there never any strong callers
when there are Republican guests. They always get
      soft ball questions. ALWAYS

It shows me that someone is monitoring the calls and

      •  Taming- CSPAN does not have "ratings" (0+ / 0-)

According to Brian Lamb, the founder, CSPAN has never made any attempt to measure the size of its audience. Because it has no advertising it does not need to provide information about the size of its audience. Should cable and satellite subscriptions drop CSPAN would lose revenue and would have to trim expenses. Regarding the hosts, guests, and questions I don't see the bias that you do. Regardless, viewing has NO IMPACT on the economics of CSPAN so it does not seem to fit in the same mode as the other commercial channels. However, if you cancel your cable subscription it does cost CSPAN five cents a month.

        •  No ratings (0+ / 0-)

If no one watch---that show would go off. Nobody
pays for nothing. That space would be filled with
          something else.

Cspans ratings are in their calls. Afte the election 2008, I noticed Republican calls fell off.
You can watch old shows and find out for yourself.

The hosts would invite Republicans over and over
to call. Cspan wants callers!!!!! They need them
otherwise they cant as hey say "Gage what the Public

I dont want Cspan to go away I want them to be
SCRUPUTOUSLY FAIR. I want them to make sure
that their telephone screeners are not just
          screening OUT stong Democratic callers.

    •  Boycotting works. (0+ / 0-)

Boycotting certain things work. If it didnt the
Civil Rights Activists wouldnt have been successful.

It is obvious that EVERYTHING cant be boycotted.
No one is saying that. Trying to infer that boycotting is ineffective is untruthful.

      •  I didn't say that boycotting specific companies (0+ / 0-)

(e.g. Walmart) doesn't work. In fact, it's quite effective. But boycotting the whole industry (TV) is problematic since much fewer people will be able to do it and networks primarily worry about their share of the viewers, not so much about total number of viewers.

        •  I did not say boycott the whole industry. (0+ / 0-)

There are numerous channels Movie, Sports, History,
Music, Health, Food, Shopping, Beauty, Government,
International and hundreds of others to choose from.

No one is going to boycott television FOREVER. We
just want to make our anger and displeasure known
concerning the Corporate takeover of our PUBLIC

The airways have become privatized. Privitized for
the Republican Elite. I certainly dont see any
Republican poor with the power. They get their
power co=opted by Republican Elite by television

They vote for who they say vote for, repeat like
parrots what they have been told ie FOX. People
become like android. Following the instructions
          of their masters.

I think it can only be a good thing to boycott
television until we can get true FACTS and not
          just propagands.
