Yes there are school uniforms being pushed
on schools but what this principal, Dennis Brown
is proposing is beyond the realm of sanity.
Where we live is Rural Ga and with a HS enroll data of 1800 and 81 teachers, clearly, blue jeans is not the problem.
I have talked with this principal and he never wants more than one occasion at least with this parent. He is clearing pushing an agenda that is targeting minorities and a class of economically disadvantaged, or else he has a knee jerk response to a problem that comes with underfunded schools and over crowdiness.
This is not about as I said uniforms....He wants
to return children to a time of the 60's. Maybe he is unaware of Tinker vs.Des Moines in 1969.
The Atlanta news channel has picked up the story and he wants High schoolers to dress for success and his way of doing so is proposing to ban denim. Totally. No bags, tee shirts, blue jeans. Nada. No writing on a tee shirt at all whether it be Princess or Mickey Mouse.
Shoes? Athletic shoes as long as there is no logo and even socks are to be plain. No stripes
no plaids.
He is an x cop and IMO wants to run this school as a warden rather than as an educator.
The drop out rate is high in this county and it will go higher.
What happens when this control freak Principal who wants to impose the Timberland shoes (good ole boy hunting foot attire) actually advocates it, leaves his job and I am for that sooner than later, and it is clearly even though, somewhat obscure, the man has a problem with the black community.,and another principal wants the citizens of kids attending to buy more clothes to fit their agenda?
I judge this man and his conservative agenda by the response of posters who have actually responded by bigoted remarks and all for this ban on denim.
You don't even want to know what some of the
ignorant people said.
I called the NAACP and left a message
I called the ACLU who I am angry with right now but maybe I can declare my daughter a corporation and then she can have a few rights.
I have no money even next year to spend on Khaki pants and plain blouses and capris below the knees. I say that taking the rights away from parents to dress their kids accordingly is not
a good thing and a small step towards fascism.
This is a public school run by a few small minded individuals. The reddest of red in the state and this guy has an agenda.
Can someone from the ACLU, a representative attend one of three meetings
in Villa Rica Ga regarding a ban on blue jean and any denim attire?
This control measure goes further than uniforms and freedom of expression within reason. This measure proposed by a gung ho principal will put a financial
hardship on the citizens of Carroll County to conform to HIS ideology and
brand of success. It is clearly, targeting a certain minority and pushing an
agenda that as a taxpayer, I will not accept.
Maybe I should have my child declared a corporation and then we may have
more freedom.
Here is the news link.
Success as he defines is in the attire. The message he is sending is Blue Jeans is not dressing for success. Excuse me, Bill Gates wears denim as so do many of the top executives and CEO's but if dress is a sign of ethics then one name comes to mind. Bernie Madoff. Now that was class wasn't it?
