Do you remember how you felt at 11PM Eastern Time on November 4, 2008? Do you remember how you felt at Noon Eastern Time on January 20, 2009? Do you remember where you were when you heard that Barack Hussein Obama won the presidency or when he said "So help me God?" How did you feel? What was running through your head? Join me over the fold if you're not too busy writing a GBCW or switching parties.
If you don't remember, let me refresh your memory.
Now, how do you feel watching those videos? I choked up watching them again. I did back when I saw them live. I do every time when I watch them now.
How can we sit here a year later and bash our president so soon? I understand we're upset that we've had less than stellar progress in the last year. I understand that we're frustrated. We endured eight years of hell and none of us want to relive them. We'll do anything to prevent from having to go through that again. If you don't remember how bad it was, I'll gladly remind you.
But seriously, calling it quits now? Giving up because our Senate is full of living, breathing douchebags? Don't give up. Don't feel defeated. We still have 3 years. We may not have a super-duper-holy-mother-of-all-majorities in the Senate anymore, but that doesn't mean we can't get anything done. Bush never had a 60 seat majority and he still managed to f--- the country up. Dammit, if a dimwitted cowboy riding his father's coattails can do stuff without 60 seats in the House of 100 Presidents, we can too. But we can't if people are giving up so soon. Don't be the cause of our own defeat. Have we forgotten?
