By the 2008 presidential elections we the American people were angry. Through donating and voting we felt that we could make our voices heard and enact change to our system of government. Sure enough we found out that we could make a difference and we voted for someone we felt wanted to make a difference too. Fast forward to today and that person, our president, through his actions shows that he cares more about the corporate and political elite then the American people.
Well I don't know about you, but I am livid, furious even. I am sure I am not the only one. I am upset and angry at the people who supposedly represent us and who instead are representing the wealthy and elite. But I am also annoyed at us, the netroots, and the politically involved.
Why am I annoyed? I am annoyed with us because I have yet to see us utilize our organizational skills to the best of their abilities or answer the questions of what can we do. Yes we can raise money, and yes we can discuss issues that the MSM will not talk about or is afraid to talk about. However, how this administration has been going forward, and how the banking, and health insurance elite have shown their naked greed should show you we are not being effective. So how can we be effective or better yet how can we make a difference?
There are no quick and easy fixes. With the social consciousness of our country having grown up valuing conservative ideals of greed, the easy dollar, and the non empathetic creed of " I have mine so go F yourself", the power of a united community has been almost fully extinguished. That is why I think we need to create a non political, political organization that can not only change the way the economy and government is run but change the values of the people in our country as well.
Here are my ideas:
- One such idea is the Kitchen Table Alliance, so called because the kitchen table is held as the centerpiece of families and I would like to make everyone united as a family of Americans who are just trying to live their lives. The KTA would start up locally all over the United states and in time use its local power to exert national power. The KTA would be a union for all workers, a place where the community could get together outside of religious houses of worship. KTA could be a place for funding for jobs, or a place where jobs are outright created. Community has been missing for a while now why not try and fill that hole?
- Another idea would allow us to not only create new jobs, but gain capital and change the way our economy works in the process too. We could start a green energy company, or really any company that we could think of because we have the workers available and we have the ideas. Think about it, new companies that are profitable, ecologically conscientious, and pay a living wage to their employees. Or even more outside the box, how about companies that communities own and as such share the profit every month along with their paycheck?
I have more but I feel these two are fine for now. We are at a unique place right now. The true enemy of the middle class and hard working american people are plainly visible for all to see we can do something about it. Please tell me what you think and especially what your ideas are that we can enact. Thanks
