The SCOTUS decision in Citizen’s United v. FEC, bad as it is, and despite the recent epidemic of shocked progressives running around with their hair on fire screaming bloody murder, doesn't necessarily mean the end of Democracy as we know it.
More than half of the states, including Washington, will not be affected by the ruling because corporations already enjoyed the expenditure rights granted by the SCOTUS decision.
In Washington State, corporations have never been subject to restrictions on independent expenditures. It has been 29 years since Washington voters have elected a Republican Governor or U.S. Senator. Two thirds of the State's Congressional Districts are represented by Democrats, and Democrats enjoy a solid majority in both State houses.
I don't like the SCOTUS ruling, either, but the greatest threat Democrats face from the decision is not financial, it is psychological. Demoralization will cost us more seats than corporate campaigning.
So stopped being so depressed and get back to work!
